1. Nets expands into e-wallet launching new app next month 

Singapore’s rush to establish its national e-payment scheme prompts the country’s payment solutions provider Nets to launches the 2.0 initiative to move into mobile payment and launch NetsPay app in October.

All six of Nets’ bank partners will eventually come on board and Nets’ QR code and contactless payment systems will also work with e-payment apps from the three local banks.

Nets have the largest number of e-payment merchants of 37,000 in the system and targeting the remaining of unadopted 30,000.

2. Vietnam’s Dropfoods is raising $9M via ICO to grow its business

Dropfoods, the largest smart vending machine operator in Vietnam, targets to raise $9 million in an initial coin offering (ICO) on Sept 21.

The company will also be issuing its own cryptocurrency, Dropcoins in the ICO, which will only be opened to accredited investors. These Dropcoins can be converted into cash for withdrawal and purchases at its vending machine.

With the proceeds from its ICO, Dropfoods will install 1,000 new vending machines for food items that the consumers will be able to buy via Dropfoods app.

3. Airbnb focus for growth in APAC is driven by corporate travel

The US home-rental service eyes business travelers in Asia Pacific which right now made up 12% of all corporate bookings and contributes 40% of $1.2 trillion global industry spending.

Business travelers contribution in Airbnb could grow to 30% by 2020, with Asia Pacific being the main growth driver.

Having said that, Airbnb remains illegal in many markets in Asia Pacific, except China and Japan which accounts for 75% of the region’s total business travel spending combined.
